Ramos unsure about Ronaldo's Madrid future

November 17, 2017

The defender insisted he knew nothing about recent rumours suggesting the Portugal star wants to leave the Blancos
Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was unwilling to be drawn into Cristiano Ronaldo's future at the club, saying he had no idea what the Portugal star would end up deciding.
Ronaldo, 32, is again being linked with a move away from the La Liga champions despite being contracted until mid-2021.

Asked about the star forward's future again after Spain's 3-3 friendly draw with Russia, Ramos said he had no idea.
"Cristiano is leaving? Ask him, I don't know about these things," the defender told reporters.
Madrid are back in action with a derby clash against Atletico on Saturday, sitting third in the table and eight points behind rivals and league leaders Barcelona.
Ramos said Zinedine Zidane's men could afford few mistakes for the rest of the season.

I am more than just a goal machine' - Ronaldo ignoring criticism over his Real Madrid form

November 17, 2017

The Portugal superstar insists scoring goals is not the only factor in his happiness at the Santiago Bernabeu
Cristiano Ronaldo has dismissed claims his poor form in front of goal has left him disgruntled with life at Real Madrid.
Since moving to the Spanish capital in 2009 the Portugal international has scored at least 25 La Liga goals each season – including a phenomenal 48 in 2014-15.
Ronaldo 6/4 to be CL top scorer

This season his profile form has deserted him, though, Ronaldo scoring just once in seven league appearances as third-placed Madrid have slipped eight points behind leaders Barcelona.
Some reports have suggested Ronaldo's form is linked to his mood at the club and that he is unhappy, but he insists he is feeling good in the Spanish capital.
"I don't agree with what people are saying about me," Ronaldo told an interview with L'Equipe .
"People don't know the difference between playing well, playing okay and not scoring goals.
"I'm looked at as a goal machine, like a guy who has to score all the time. If that isn't the case, nobody cares if I've played well or not, I'm only judged on scoring.

"I accept the criticism, but I don't agree with it. That's why I avoid reading or hearing what is said about me. But I have no choice but to accept it; I can't control the world."
Defeats to Girona and Real Betis have left Madrid with an uphill challenge to defend their league title this season, but Ronaldo is not worried.
He added: "The team? We're playing pretty well; not perfect, but good! I'm happy and I feel good. We dropped some points in the league but, in the Champions League, we're okay.
"It's only the start of the season and there are a lot of matches left to play. You have to stay calm and continue to work, because it's obvious we can do better.
"Things will change; I'm not worried. Other people are more so than me. I'm in 'delta mode,' if you know what I mean: calm, serene.
“Two years ago, it was the same situation; last year, the same. And this year, it starts again."

Appiah picks Messi as best player ahead of Ronaldo

November 17, 2017

he Black Stars coach has added his voice to the unending debate between the two great footballers but believes the Argentine is on top
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah believes Argentina captain and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is the best player in the world.
Although, Portugal and Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo was adjudged the 2017 Fifa World best player last month, the Black Stars gaffer believes he comes nowhere near Messi, when he was asked to choose between the two great players.
“Messi is my best player in the world [ahead of Ronaldo,]," Appiah told Metro TV.
"He is a player who makes a difference in games. He is a kind of player that is a good passer of the ball, good dribbler, and a good header of the ball," he said.
“In actual fact, he is a one-man player, if you take him out, you see clearly how the team suffers so for me he is a great player,” he added.
Appiah also insisted that he will never fear the sack in his second term as the Black Stars coach despite his side's inability to qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup.
''You see, you learn a lot and there are so many things that happen in the background. In my first spell, I was afraid of so many things like getting the sack,'' Appiah said.

''But now, I am not afraid of getting the sack. I am not afraid of taking any decision. There is nothing I am afraid of now because at the end of the day, if it does not go well, it is all on me.
''I always do all I need to in order to get the best out of my work. People can suggest but they cannot interfere with my work,'' he added.

Los Blancos 11/2 to win CL
Following their shock defeat to Tottenham earlier this month, Madrid face the prospect of finishing second in Group H, which would pit the defending champions against a European powerhouse.
PSG have already qualified for the knockout round with two matchdays remaining and loom as a potential opponent in the last 16, but four-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo is not scared.
"I'm not afraid of PSG," Ronaldo told L'Equipe.
"We're the defending champions, two years in a row, we have to respect that.

"We would prefer to finish first in the group, but the most important thing first of all is qualification."
It has been an unconvincing start to the season for Ronaldo and Madrid.

October 26, 2017
FLORENTINO PEREZ is set for showdown talks with Cristiano Ronaldo – but the Real Madrid president will tell his superstar player: you have nowhere to go.
According to Spanish publication Diario Gol, Perez has been telling friends in the media he is STUCK at the Bernabeu, simply because there have been no offers for him and the 32-year-old’s age will put buyers off.
Cristiano Ronaldo is believed to be unhappy at Real Madrid after being accused of defrauding the Spanish authorities of £13million

Los Blancos’ president Florentino Perez has strenuously claimed that the 32-year-old will be staying with the club beyond the summer
Ronaldo would only consider a move back to former club Manchester United should he depart the La Liga this summer.

The Portuguese star is believed to be outraged after Los Blancos have failed to protect him after he was charged of defrauding the Spanish authorities.

He is accused of not paying out £13million in four separate acts between 2011-2014, and is likely to be imposed with a heavy time instead of a potential jail sentence.

In the report published by the Spanish news outlet, Peres is quoted as saying: “Cristiano is angry, and I understand it.

“He is a professional, very meticulous and responsible with his obligations.
“It is normal to get angry when they try to hurt you.”

Perez insists Cristiano Ronaldo will be staying at Real Madrid as no clubs can affords him

Cristiano Ronaldo signed a new deal in November which sees him contracted to Real Madrid until 2021
But he has strenuously revealed that even though his prized asset in unhappy with the Champions League winners, he will remain a part of the squad for the forthcoming season.
Perez insisted it is impossible for any club to be able to afford given his huge price tag and £440,000-a-week salary, as well as the fact that no clubs have put any offers in for him.
Ronaldo’s mood will hardly be any happier at the moment considering the fact his country bowed out of the Confederations Cup at the semi-final stage.
Chile beat Portugal 3-0 in the penalty shoot-out after they played out a goalless draw in 120 minutes.
The former Sporting Lisbon didn’t even get a chance to take a spot-kick as his team-mates missed all three penalties with Claudio Bravo stopping Ricardo Quaresma, Joao Moutinho and Nani.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains the only client of super-agent Jorge Mendes at Real Madrid as speculation continues to mount over his long-term future at the Bernabeu.

Mendes used to have a growing list of players with the Spanish giants and was also responsible for bringing Jose Mourinho to the Spanish capital.

The Portuguese football agent played a crucial role in seeing the likes of Ricardo Carvalho, Angel Di Maria, Pepe, Fabio Coentrao and James Rodriguez arrive at the La Liga winners.

Mendes has been a busy man once again this summer after overseeing moves for Coentrao to join Sporting Lisbon, Pepe to Besiktas and was part of a major deal this week when Rodriguez joined Bayern Munich on a two-year loan deal.

The departure of those three big names means Ronaldo is the sole survivor of Mendes former empire at the Bernabeu.

The Madrid superstar will be upset to see two of his close friends leave in Pepe and Coentrao as he prepares to make a big decision himself over his future in Spain.

The former Manchester United forward is currently away on his summer holiday and will miss the start of pre-season following his participation in the Confederations Cup for Portugal.

But despite revelations earlier in the summer that Ronaldo would quit Spain after he was accused of tax evasion, reports in Spain are now suggesting he will remain with the Champions League winners.

Cristiano Ronaldo's surprising reaction to Portugal's penalty shootout loss to Chile emerges

October 26, 2017

Portugal missed out on a chance to reach the Confederations Cup 2017 final on Wednesday after losing to Chile on penalties.

A laborious 90 minutes was followed by a semi-exciting extra-time, but neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Alexis Sanchez could prevent the fixture from ending 0-0.
And so it was left to penalties to decide the tie.

Typically of Ronaldo, the Portuguese wanted to be one of the last players to take a penalty and so left himself out of the first three.

Ronaldo puts a comforting hand on Quaresma's head

Unfortunately for the Real Madrid striker, three successful Chile spot kicks and three Claudio Bravo saves meant he never got the chance.

But if you thought the four-time Ballon d'Or winner might kick off or throw a strop, you'd be wrong.

Captain perfect: Ronaldo is a team player
Footage has emerged of the Portugal captain instead doing something amazing. After Ricardo Quaresma and Joao Moutinho missed their efforts, Ronaldo consoled them on the halfway line, separately and together.

When Nani had his penalty saved, the 32-year-old forward rallied his troops together and led them off the pitch.

Brave in the face of defeat, Ronaldo then went to congratulate Bravo on his shootout heroics.
Despite Fernando Santos's men still having the third/fourth play-off against Mexico on Sunday, the 32-year-old forward has been allowed to fly home after the birth of his twins.
